Modele Kuforiji, NEW Student Life Coordinator,

Black Student Engagement!

Modele Kuforiji (he/him, photo above) is the new Student Life Coordinator, Black Student Engagement, with Mentorship & Peer Programs in the Division of Student Life. His role focusses on facilitating and creating pathways in which Black students can engage in student life on campus in a way that feels accessible. Modele was a very involved Black student, and encourages Black students, clubs and groups to reach out to him. Modele did his undergrad at U of T (English major, double minor in Anthropology and Environmental Anthropology). During his final year he began working on his research about the online world through the lens of the Afro Latino. His research and part of his associated mini documentary was presented at the 2018 Displacements Conference. This research allowed him to expand into work on his Masters at the University of Amsterdam, where he continued to use his Afro Latino identity lens to explore ideas of “Space and Place” and what that means for those who are creating it.
